Hey folks, I'm Josh! We just bought a 2005 Coleman Fleetwood Utah that was in great condition and well-cared for by the previous owners. I'm new to all this, but we're excited to scrub it down, waterproof it, and repaint and recover the innards. Welcome from Michigan and congrats on the new unit! The one piece of advice that comes to mind is don't take on so many repairs that you can't camp in it this year.
That is good advice! It's all cosmetic stuff thankfully, but we definitely want to hit the campground sooner than later!
Welcome from Illinois! My only advice is take it out a couple of times and you'll figure out what you need.
Welcome from northern Virginia and a fellow Fleetwood Utah owner. One piece of advice I have are watch those roof tracks carefully. Especially if yours are screwed down. They were a huge source of leaking on my popup. I ultimately took those tracks off and covered the massive seam that was under them. Manufacturer did not put anything else over the seam other than the track and didn’t put anything in the screw holes so over time things things could leak. Not trying to discourage, other than that the Utah is a great unit. I love mine. My little side kick loves her larger bed and no more bruised shins she got in my last popup. Judging by all her stuff laying on the couch I think she likes the couch too. The dogs have a place to go other than under feet which is my main reason for going so large. I’m sure your family will get to enjoy it as much as mine.
That's great advice! I was a little worried about that when I saw it, but it looks like the previous owner covered both racks entirely in caulk - I don't think they've ever been used! I'll keep an eye on it for sure though.
From looking at your aviator, welcome. From Pittsburgh, south hills area , I had a 2001 Utah , great floor plan. Not sure if you still have the ABS roof, ( I beleive that discontinued that around 2004. )? If not mistaken? There was good ones , and bad ones. For that era , I got lucky with a good one though. The Utah. Is a bigger pop up, what do you tow with? Don’t hesitate to ask questions here , as this is a great site, with great advice. Hope to see you on the road. At some point
I'm also originally from the south hills area - Peters Township! It's the 2005 Utah - metal roof thankfully. I tow it with a Nissan Pathfinder. I lucked out - it's in wonderful condition for what I paid for it.
