The article has been thoroughly revised to show the improved method I am now using. After a lot of research and work the ultimate solution has been found and installed on my trailer. It builds on the work of others who have successfully installed the most successful gas spring solution.
Anyplace where I don’t have to create an account?

I evaluated all the methods for installing roof panel lift assisting struts. You might want to review my article. Several folks have scrapped the Aliner installation method. I tried the initially-vertical method and now I switched to the best method out there. Check out my article on installing gas springs (called How to Install Gas Spring Lift Assistance) in the files at:
or directly at this link:
I put a lot of work and expense into this article so others could benefit by my research, mistakes and finally great successes! Based on all the horror stories, I would never want an electrical powered roof lifting system when this system is so simple and works automatically. And you don't mangle your roof panels if one electric lift stops working or one wind cheeta strap activates in windy conditions or with the jerking motion of the roof panels when starting them up a second time.
Hi Brian, since the Yahoo group requires a login, can you post a copy of your article on this site?
Yahoo groups died! You can peruse or join a replacement group and within the files section of that group is one called "How to Install Gas Spring Lift Assistance". The group is at this link:
This article provides the easiest and most effective method for installing gas springs.
The file is too large to post on this site. I started a new replacement group on Facebook where you can find this file. Facebook is better than Yahoo. Here is the link to the group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/Aliner/ Just look in the files section or go to this file direct at:
Note that the former Yahoo group died as have all such Yahoo groups.
The article is too large for this site but can be accessed at this link:
Or you can find it in the files for this Facebook group called "Aliner"
Here is an article I just finished today on how to install gas springs to effectively aid in raising your roof panels. Hope it helps. See this file:
or look in the files in this facebook group called ""

Note that all Yahoo groups died! The information is now on a Facebook group called "Aliner".
This group and the files should be accessible to most folks without a need to join:
