I just bought a 1996 jayco udk used but the refrigerator isn't running. There isn't anywhere inside or on the front to switch it on and after several hours of the power being plugged in it isn't turning on. Does it run off gas? Am i missing something?

Generally they are more efficient on propane. There should be a control panel on the outside of the pup. (Behind the fridge)
Some take better part of 24 hours to cool down.

All the controls are on the outside of the camper. The only thing inside maybe the make and model number of the unit. Post that and we can tell you how it operates.
Open the large lower grille on the outside. May have a twist tab or 2 black clips that you turn 90 degrees with a screwdriver.

It probably runs off propane too, but as others have said you turn it on outside of the camper.
There will be controls for 12V 110V and propane. Depending on if it's a 2 way or 3 way fridge.

Fyi, this type of fridge does not make any noise when it runs. A tiny heat source smaller than a candle flame when running on propane is the driving force for the cooling system.

After you turn it on, wait an hour or so and touch the silver cooling fins inside the fridge. If the are cold, it's working.
