Testing a newly installed Renogy battery monitor.
Trouble Shooting, page 8 of the manual: "When connecting the load, if the backlight is blinking, the B- and P- are wired inversely."
On visual check the the connections are correct.
With no charging source but the ceiling lights on the backlight doesn't blink.
When charged from an external charger, with the + lead clipped to the + battery post and the - lead clipped to the frame, the backlight doesn't blink. The monitor shows +3 amps into the battery.
When charging from the, also new, PD converter the backlight blinks. The The monitor shows +22 amps into the battery.

Has anyone else noticed this behavior.

If you are talking about the 500amp shunt and monitor, it slowly flashes if you are charging the battery. I turn off the back light. Read that section of the manual.

It flashes rapidly if it is reversed, I believe.

Steve, what model did you choose and how’d you decide on Renogy? I a have thought about adding a Good battery monitor to my pup and also my work box truck which I recently added a 2nd battery (Grp 31 AGM) to the box. I haven’t researched them as yet.

Long experience with the Renogy brand. It came with a longer cable than the Alibaba versions which allowed more flexibility in mounting. The real competition was between it and the Victron BMV. I liked that the Renogy displays all the info I need in a single glance instead having to pull out my phone or page trough multiple displays on the unit. I got it on sale at about half the current price, which was the clincher. One thing I wasn't aware of before ordering is that the Renogy comes with a sturdy plastic mount for the shunt which makes mounting the shunt embarrassingly simple.

For me, I expect Renogy to be around long enough to honor its warranties. And their tech support is pretty good (and certainly responsive time-wise).

Here is what mine looks like in my TT. I went with it because it was half the price of the victron.
