Planning on replacing my vent hood since the plastic lid broke again. This time I'm planning on using one with a 12v fan in it, because whynot? Question is which brand to go with? Saw a few on Amazon. I'm choosing between the Heng's and the ventline brands. Any suggestions?

Not much difference between the two choices. Both are the same size and both have a similar quality in the plastic used for the vent cover. But sierapup is right, fantastic fan is an awesome upgrade. And you can choose the cheaper option now and upgrade later to a fantastic fan insert.

But yes, check on the wiring. If it isn't there you will need to get a 12v source from the closest light fixture. You can do it by using wire mold on the ceiling to avoid drilling into the roof and burying the 12v line.

I haven't heard of the two you are considering, but our Fantastic works great.

The fantastic looks nice, but unfortuneately is out of my price range for now. I'm not too worried about a 12 volt source, since my converter is close by and I've done some previous repairs to the ceiling so running it inside the ceiling will be a simple job.

Invest in a Max Air vent cover to protect the square plastic cover on the vent.
