Hey Folks -

In case anyone hasn't seen it yet, just found out the you will now be able to reserve campsites in some of NC's SPs this year. A Friend sent me this:
quote:
In 2009, the North Carolina state parks system will launch a full-service reservations system for campsites, vacation cabins, picnic shelters, community buildings and other facilities at its 37 state parks and state recreation areas. You'll soon have the option of reserving campsites and facilities online, or by calling a toll-free 800 number or by visiting a state park office or visitor center. It's a new way to explore and enjoy the 'Naturally Wonderful' state parks and state recreation areas.
Beginning April 22, you'll be able to make reservations for state park visits on July 15 and thereafter. Reservations made prior to April 22 for week long stays at state recreation areas, for vacation cabins, shelters and other facilities will not be affected.

Just an FYI. Can't wait to get out into the woods!!

I was grateful to see that on their website this afternoon. I have been hearing about it, but it is finally arriving on April 22 for reservations starting this summer. They have released which or if all the state parks will be included.

Lack of reservations in North Carolina caused lots of us to spend more time in neighboring states, not wanting to chance driving to a campground and not being able to get a spot.
This new reservation system was at the top of the list for most requested items.

I am glad they are getting a online system. Maybe us out of towners can come down there and do some camping!!!!!!!

Excellent! I lived in NC for over 10 years and thought that they had some really nice campgrounds. However I wouldn't risk driving from Georgia to a state park there if I didn't have a reservation. This is good news!
