Exactly - former Coleman/Fleetwood dealerships might still have some parts in stock. Just because Fleetwood closed it's operations doesn't mean the parts sitting in a dealer's parts dept vanished. They are getting scarce, but not impossible to find.

I found another possible source for you, Babar (you have a voice message, BTW.) Somerset RV is building pop-ups using the Coleman/Fleetwood design, and per their website, some of their parts will fit Coleman/Fleetwood products.

Here's a link to their website:

    http://somersetrv.com/

Click the FAQ link - the first question asked is on this very topic. If there's a Somerset (or A-Liner or T.R.E.) dealer near you, it's worth checking into. They may be able to help you out with parts for your lift system.

    Hope the repairs go well!

There seems to be a holiday, right smack in the middle of my camper malfunction! Holy cow! I'm not even sure what the problem is, but it is most likely a failed delrin nut in the draw-bar, but I haven't gotten the cover off to check. Too dang hot here!

The RV dealerships in Abq are sparse, there's only one dealer who has the new Somerset brand campers.. Meyers RV. There are a few other RV places around town, but they have horrible reviews. Scared of that...

It looks like my best bet is to get in touch with the folks from canvasreplacements.com and order one of their new-fangled whiffle trees.

All this, of course, is not going to ruin our vacation! Now we're "hotelling" it at an extended stay in Abq. Off to Roswell, NM on Wed, or Thur.

    Luck has indeed improved!

Canvasreplacements.com had ONE whiffletree in stock that would fit our camper!

It is on order and will be overnighted to me in Roswell, NM. Whew, relieved. The customer service was fantastic, and you can bet I'll work with them in the future when I need a new canvas.

    Onward!

I guess this is why everybody likes them for new canvas. The owner told me to send him pics of a window I need to repair because he may know a fix that won't require me to take our trailer apart.
I guess he treats everyone this well! Good luck with the repairs!

We made it to Roswell, NM where Canvass Replacements came thru with flying colors! In less than 24hrs the new whiffle tree was received. After taking out the old.one, turns out I just broke one of the roll pins.in the thrust collar!

I replaced the antique with the help of my uncle, and soutbwest bearings.

Camper is a bit harder to crank, bit it's now better than ever.

We're in Dallas now, visiting family, and on the 10th we'll be headed back on the trail. I acknowledge the lack of posts, amd assure all that I'll get caught up soon! Next stop, after Dallas, is Palo Duro SP . Very happy to habe solved the problems quickly. Hopefully we'll survive this Texas heat!

    Stay tuned...

WOW! Did you order the whiffletree before you checked it out?

Sorry to hear you spent all that money on a whiffletree that you didn't need (yet,) but I'm glad everything went together okay and that you're back in business.

We just got finished unloading from a camping trip to a local regional campground, and I can tell you that we really miss our pup. Enjoy the rest of your trip!

I would have liked to have spent $0.20 rather than the eventual $200.00... The only way i would have known it was so simple was.to have taken it all apart anyway. Given that i ordered the replacement, first, it was like a major "d'oh", but in the end, I now have a spare!

Plus, i learned a great deal about the condition and construction of the ol' camper. It was also good bonding time with my Uncle.

    I'm an optimist!

Back on the trail tomorrow! Second star to the left and straight on till... Friday or Saturday. I'll have to post pics when i get home.

    Stay tuned.
