We were given a 1980 star craft tent trailer from a local freecycle forum (the 4 of us don't fit in our van for camping anymore), the canvas is really good, we aren't sure about the wood yet, lets hope, but the cable lift system is snapped. I don't want to pay $130 we don't have to get a kit to do it, there has to be a cheaper way, and maybe it could be fixed? We don't have any diagrams to even know where to start, there is no manual with it. Please, I hope someone can help us out with some info. HEEEEEEEELP

You can download a copy of the manual right here. Click on the Owner's Manual link at the top of the page and find one for a year close to yours. Other than cosmetic changes, there aren't major differences if you find a year close to yours.

A number of posts have been about lift systems and you can search the forums to see and read those.

I did get one from a person on here which is perfect! it shows pretty much step by step and if we can find the cables, and get the thing up, we should have it going in no time :) so happy!

You should be able to order cables directly from Starcraft. You can also get cable at Lowe's and Home Depot.

Freecycle is a great resource. We have found good homes for several large items that still had a lot of use left in them but were not needed here.

    Good luck with the repairs!
