We bought the wood, I think 2x2, and did the same thing. Well, we have 2 posts plus the door. Not sure if the wood posts should both be on the opposite side of the door.

I stand corrected, apparently quite common after doing a little research.

im new to pupping. It seems odd to me that theres only two manufacturer provided metal support bars that fit over the actual lifters. Seems like there should be 4 - one on each lift rail on each corner???? Seems a bit of a liability if one corner snaps down while someones inside.

Just be sure to perform routine maintenance on the lift system. If you ignore it, it will fail! Every year I spray all the pulleys with silicon. Every other year I clean and re-lube the whiffle tree. Two or three years ago I cleaned the crank assembly (clutch system). It's better to find an issue when at home doing routine maintenance then have a major issue at the campground.
