And that story should be told, blame it on me.
I picked up some cookware, utensils, and a bunch of fabric (for curtains and mattress covers) for $15!!
I picked up a Sharp 15 inch flat screen TV today with mounting bracket for $40. Works great! This will replace the small tube TV we use for the boys to watch DVD's at bedtime and rainy days. The old TV had to be stored during transit, this one will be permanently mounted.
It was not a thrift store but a flea market. I picked up two 6.5 inch cast iron pans for $5.00 each, no rust looks perfect. He also had a bunch of enamel pans and a tea kettle I already have a large "collection" of that, so we left that for someone else.
Well on crags list, picked up a new Coleman hot water on demand(250) came with all attachments and carry bag(50) for $100.. works great hot water in 5 seconds. Now just need a shower tent.
Stopped at the local Goodwill today to pick up some books and walked out with a like new Fantastic Vent, Endless Breeze 12 volt fan for $5.99. Great deal!
I'll give you 10!
Picked-up a Sony digital camera for $5 last week (I did have to buy proprietary rechargeable batteries for it though)
Ice Age Trail/Hartman Creek SP
Best Goodwill/Savers score was probably a mantis tiller for $35.
Best Craigslist score was my PUP! $1 (and counting, of course)
My blender broke, the rubber gear on the bottom of the pitcher stripped. I hit up a Cebral Palsy thrift store for a replacement blender. The only one they had didn't turn on and had food all over it. I founda pitcher with what seemed like the same size and gear. $4.27 I bought it and sure enough it fit. Now I have a very thick glass pitcher that I think I'll see what a 30-06 rifle will do to it...
For those who can't find items in their local goodwill or don't have one nearby... Try http://www.shopgoodwill.com
Similar to eBay, can search using terms like "cast iron" or "camp" and get pages of items under $10.
Looks like some excellent deals. Thanks for the tip
I picked up a two-burner Coleman propane stove this week for $5. It was pretty gunked up with grease and old burned cumbs. I hit it with L.A.'s Totally Awesome and some no-heat oven cleaner and it is looking like an only slightly used stove. Works like a camp. I'm going to donate it to our local Trail Life USA troop.
Here in WI we finally got some snow and I scored at Goodwill! Atomic XC skis with Saloman Profil bindings $15 in "very good" condition. Last spring I found some like new Saloman boots for $2.50! (about $85 retail).
No matter the season...ya gotta get out there!
Got a Wagner griddle for $10....will need to take care of rust and re-season, but not bad!
If you want to buy from Goodwill online it had better be a bullet proof item. I wouldn't buy ANY THING electronic from them. Chances are it isn't going to work. I tried game cameras and a few other items. Not one worked. No recourse either. I will not give them any more of my business.
Coleman fluorescent light lantern $6
72 Stansport toilet bags $6
What? I read a few pages and didn't find anyone mentioning Craigslist FREE section. I check it all the time - only one person gets to be first! I meet really interesting people this way, and I've gotten really worthwhile stuff - and I'm not talking Rubbermaid!
There are always air conditioners, boats (although I wouldn't recommend them!), POP-UPS (Don't ask me how I know!), furniture (I have a NEW couch!), and more.
If you're ppicky, quick and lucky - it could almost be a part-time job.
I also give away lots there - and I have felt as good about those transactions too.
Garage sale for $10...don't hate me!
that should crank up a pup!
