To all,
When doing your Christmas cards this year, if you would take one card and send it to this address it would be so appreciated by the wounded soldiers, they endure so much while at Walter Reed and I know from experience how a random card while in a combat theater can bring a tear to your eye and make your day all at the same time.

This is a great idea...though please read this from Snopes. Apparently they will no longer accept anything addressed to "Any Wounded Soldier", or the like. Please address your cards to:

Here is Walter Reed's article on the issue....and here is the Red Cross' page....

For all those that are interested in this. It is CARDS ONLY. They will not accept anything else. Also they need to be sent by 10 December in order to reach a soldier. Also, if anyone is interested AAFES (Army and Air Force Exchange Service) will allow any person to purchase phone cards for those service members deployed overseas. For those that do not know it is very expensive for soldiers to call home and the phone card that people purchase go to soldiers that need them. Just a thought. Your support is appreciated.

Thank you armyguy for starting this post. It touches my heart. My son was deployed to Iraq in Aug. and will be there until Oct. 2009. An act of kindness is appreciated to our soldiers.

Thank you again and I hope your holidays are happy ones.

    Take care.

As I posted earlier, the Walter Reed address and the "Recovering Soldier" adressee are no longer being honored by Walter Reed. Please read the links that I posted earlier in this thread.

Honoring those that serve is something that we should all do, I am just trying to make sure your efforts are effective.
