Today will be our first time setting up in a down pour. We have tarps to attach to the ends. We have a pretty good system in place for set up in regular weather. Any other tips or suggestions to make it go smoothly? We will be leaving after set up to go to our son's football game so we want to try to stay as dry as we can.

I cancelled a trip 2 weeks ago because of the weather. Maybe you'll luck out and it will stop. [SUN]

Typically, to CAUSE rain, I just have to plan a trip.
True story. It rained my whole drive there and during set up. Then Stopped as soon as I was done. Then started raining the morning I was leaving and stopped as I drove out of the campground. No kidding.
Maybe I should plan several camping trips in California.

It's supposed to be beautiful Saturday through Monday...just the set up today that will be squishy. We would just delay our camping until tomorrow except that the campground is only 10 minutes from my office, and 15 minutes from where the game is being played tonight. We live almost an hour away from the campground. It doesn't make sense for him to drive down here to go with me to go to the game here tonight, both of us drive all the way home then come back again in the morning. We have to have two vehicles because of the nature of my job. I could get called away for emergency power restoration.

We survived living in a one room hotel for months after our house fire this year. We can survive one rainy set up. Right? Maybe??

The last time that I went camping, I set up in a torrential downpour. I have a large tarp that I put over the camper before I lifted the roof. The tarp is large enough to also cover the pull outs. I was able to set up the camper with only me getting wet.

We set up in record time with no incidents. We got there about 4 and it was done by 4:30, including bedding. We left the outdoor kitchen in the pop up until Saturday morning. It rained like crazy until we arrived at our son's football game At 6:30 then cleared. We won 55-7 in case you were wondering. It turned out to be a beautiful weekend!

When we had our pup, I used a large tarp to cover the pup before we opened it up, once we had it all set up, we finished tying down the tarp to add extra protection. I have been surprised one too many times with un-predicted rain in the middle of the night. It also helped keep the pup clean from the stuff that falls off the trees.
