We take our to my buddies lake lot. About a 20 mile drive there then a slow 1/2 mile ride on a bumpy two track.

Here in NM we take our 10RT offroad almost everytime we go to the Lincoln National Forest. One of our favorite places is on West Mountain next to Capitain NM.

How's this for off road? [LOL]

Love this place! One truck went by on the road about 1/2 mile away - ALL weekend.

Right in the middle of Colorado!

It's great to hear that I am not the only "Nut" around here!! The places that we boondock are usually not to far off the fireroads so they aren't that hard to get too. However, there is one place that as I was bringing the camper down this ravine my wife thought I was nuts and going to trash the whole rig. We made it just fine but getting back up was quite a challenge. Thank God for low range and good tires.

Okay, I don't know how to properly quote someone, but anyway, relative to the person who posted the above:
How steep an incline or descent do you attempt towing your pup?
I ask because a friend has a camp in VT with a fairly steep hill to get up top. The good thing is the road leading is fairly long and flat so you can get some momentum if you need it.
I'm no good at math or percentages, so it's hard to guess - maybe 25 degrees?
Would a pup handle that okay?

The first pop-up camper ever to enter the "most remote place in the lower 48", the Maze District of Canyonlands NP, from this spring...

This awesome! Please Please, let me know if you are going to do this in the spring as I would love to join in on this really cool camping trek. It is to bad we don't have more people capable of this type of off-road camping. I think I might have opened another can of worms. [;)]

Maybe we don't need a "bunch" of people camping this way.
Otherwise we'd have neighbours when what we're trying to accomplish is not having others too close.
    Just a thought.

You are very right in saying that but in this situation only a very few are able to do it and in my past experiences in the off-road environment here in the southwest it is always good to take at least 1 more vehicle. I have built my TV with heavier axles and much larger than stock tires plus I have a smaller RT 10 that will be equipped with 33" tires next month of which I have towed up some very rough and steep trails here in NM.

Sometime in the next couple years we plan on a trek through Canada but need to get more time off at work. Maybe after I retire completely I will get more time.

Atoyot1031 I have to say this IMO is really what off-road camping is to me. I am working on winter mods to my GC and pup and my intentions are to go up the Mt Blanca trail in Sept 2011 but I will want someone else to go with me. I have driven my Scout there many times in the past. This is a desire and mainly need to get the cojones to try it.
