solar controller location - advice needed

    We put the controller near the battery. I have a "solar suitcase" that was intended to have it at the panel, but it's more efficient to run the higher voltage from the panel back to the controller near the battery. Since the intent is to charge the battery, there's no need to bring it inside to the converter.

    Don't fret too much on using wire gage over 12 (i.e. 10 Ga), our wire runs are short and charging currents not so high even under good conditions if we are talking 200W panel tops from our installation (I have 100W fixed an 100W portable).

    I happened to have some leftover landscape lighting wire (10 gauge) so it worked out good that way.
