    Someone mentioned the lack of reviews of South Dakota campgrounds in another thread. As a South Dakotan, I am extremely proud of the public campgrounds operated by Game, Fish and Parks in the state parks and recreation areas. I have watched many of the parks evolve over the past 50 years. We have traveled and camped thru out the midwest, western US and Canada and the SD state park campgrounds are some of the best. They are clean and well organized. The website, http://gfp.sd.gov/state-parks/find-a-park/default.aspx, is quite easy to navigate and provides tons of info on the parks. If you go to the website of the park that interests you, there will be photographs of each campsite for you to browse. Weekends are extremely popular and it can be difficult to find a site without a reservation. During the week, sites are much easier to obtain. Custer State Park is an exception to this and fills rapidly all season long. Check out the website and see what interests you. SD has a bunch of great places to camp at and explore.
