Escaping the heat Aug 20-28. Near Woodland Park. Nice town nice campground. Nicky the mini schnauzer likes his bed.We did some off roading and also took Rampart road to Garden of The Gods. Lots of easy and fun dirt roads (other than Rampart rd) in the area.
NancyAnne, your post sounds like our favorite type of trip. We keep the Chalet ready to go on the spur of the moment. Decision by cell phone at noon on Friday, I hitch up while spouse fills water tank, stop at Safeway on the way out of town. If can't get in a USFS, BLM, or state park CG, just boondock at a quiet looking spot.
