Is this park too close to the city to not be affected by it? There is a possible state workers union strike threatened, would that be a problem?

The hiking at the park are fantastic. MAtthesian is also great. We normally stay at the Kia because of the amenities but definitely a great place to visit

I've been thinking about trekking out that way myself. I know it's something we have all talked about at the house. With my mom having mobility issues, I've heard there's a lot for her to see without having to overextend herself. It sure looks beautiful.

What city are you refering to? The closest towns that are nearby are small towns and very little. Can't imagine there would be any issues at the park.

Looks to me like it is in Dearborns' backyard.

Starved Rock is a beautiful park. It is near to where I grew up. I don't know anything about the strikes, sorry. It would be a shame to close it in summer. I have no experience camping there, but the park is beautiful, there is an older lodge/ hotel to walk through and explor, and i sometimes just take a pit stop/ rest stop there on way back to see Dad at home.

Disregard this, I was thinking of something else.
