Hi, are there any state parks near Bush Gardens to camp at? What are some good campgrounds close by? I read about Jellystone and it looked really fun.

    Thanks, Susan

I have read good things about Chippokes Plantation SP. It is on the south side of the James River, and you have to take a ferry to get back and forth, but I hear it is worth it. It gets great reviews on rvparkreviews.com.

If you are asking about BG Williamsburg, I stayed at the Newport News State Park last year for a week. I think it was $25- /night, has playgrounds, camp store and lake with boat and paddlboat rentals. About 15 minutes from the park etc. Only negative thing was the spraying for mosquitos at night, but that was about bedtime anyway.

Just FYI...you must be talking about Newport News Park, which is a city park. There isn't a Newport News State Park.

We have stayed at Chippokes State Park in Surry, Va. many times. Very nice state park. It has two campgrounds in the park as well. From Surry, you can catch the ferry to the other side of the James River to get to Busch Gardens. There is also KOA campgrounds in Williamsburg if you want to go that route.

I myself havent been to that jellystone but friends that have did not care for it! It used to be a seasonal campground and that is still thier thinking with being over 3/4 still being seasonal sites! Chippokes is a nice cg! It is actually a working plantation and have animals onpremise which kids enjoy! There are several cg right around bg just depends on your needs!
