as in NO beef steaks for awhile...we usually eat fish/chicken/seafood & will grab a couple of NY strips or rib eyes on occasion, but for dang sure won't be shelling out $$$$$ for 'em until prices go down lol. Took the pic below this morning at our local Wally Wild, & asked a manager what happens to the meat when it closes in on the expiration date; she said it is donated to the local Feed America, meaning folks who struggle to buy hamburger are now getting a shot at the hi end stuff, & that's a good thing...

I like having a steak dinner while camping. But looks like I’ll only have some for special occasions at those prices. Especially since I love Costco steaks.

Pulled up a couple of local spots (Jersey Lily's & Texas Road House menus), prices seem to be the same as before the meat hike, but won't know for sure until we go...

Yeah, I kind og knew prices were going up, but the last time I went with DW shopping, I was hanging out in the meat department and noticed the sharp price increase was in BEEF, but pork, chicken, turkey and even lamb was higher, but not shockingly higher. I have two freezers full of halibut and salmon, so looks like we need to get used to eating it a LOT more... in fact, it's Halibut Olympia for dinner tonight.

I do like a good steak though.

Pork/chicken/turkey prices pretty much seemed the same so far here, but that can change quick for sure; fish lover myself, & will face plant a steak as soon as I can buy one w/out feeling like i'm making a truck payment lol

The strange thing is that the prices haven’t started to move yet for the “high end” stuff up here

I was getting the usual stuff for years, then decided to cut way back for health reasons. Well, if I’m not eating much meat, I’m going to make sure to eat the really good stuff and get quality (since quantity is off the table)

so, I got used to 25-30 per steak (canadien) but that’s still cheaper than a restaurant at least, and a rare expense

Well, at the grocery store, I saw that 25 per steak is becoming close to the price for the “regular” stuff. That’s nuts. But the farm/Abattoir where I get my meat still has the same prices. For now.

loading my freezer up before they raise prices….

I noticed it like 4 months or so ago. I usally get a whole rib roast at costco and cut my own rib eyes. Price was 120$ now after inflation pirce is 240$ so doubble. And i waited and got one recently, it wasn't as good of quality. No real nice fat deposits and marbling. I should just stick to pasta.......

During the beginning of the pandemic last year, the guys at the station went on hunts throughout the year to fill their freezers because of possible meat shortages. Looks like I’ll be eating more veggies and less meat if prices continue to rise. Might be a good thing. LOL

    Happy Camping…[put&hy]
