we don't haveany really tacky lights (yet) just a string of white lights for around canopy and a couple of solar lights for either the entrance to our site or the way to the potties. We use these for our DGG's to find way back on night trips to potties. Makes it easy for them and me too, to find correct campsite without using flashlights

we have chilli peppers, lanterns and colored globes. they kind of dress up the PU at nights. kind of a festivity motive and as everyone else, we use them as ambient light and keep us from interrupting other campers.

we also use them to guide ourself at night from and to the restroom.

My husband was dead set against them when I bought a rope light set of clear lights. But when I was fussing to my friends while he listened he decided to go ahead and put them up to keep me quiet. So now everytime we camp he wants them up even if for a short period...I sometimes have to corral him not to put them up. But they put out just enought light for under the awning and we cut them off at bedtime.

Tacky lights are fun !! Lets see - I have sandals, American flags, sunflowers, lanterns, fishing lures, tee shirts, the characters from the movie 'Cars', among others.

A good source for lights is http://www.sjglew.com/

We have aliens because once we get all the Reflectix up and the PUGs on it resembles a spaceship. The cool thing about them is they glow in the dark. I think I found them on Ebay.

We're too close to Area 51 to get away with something like that, even though it's a 4 hour drive from here. I know my luck - if I did something like that, I'd be surrounded by men in black suits and cheap sunglasses. No, not the Blues Brothers... [:D]

We need tacky lights for our pup, but need advice on how to hang them.
Our awning doesn't have the flap on the end to clip anything to...just the
rail. Are there clips that you slide into the groove on the awning rail?
Anyone have this kind of awning? Ours attaches to the camper.
    Thanks,
    Dawn

I wonder how many marriages have ended over tacky lights? I know they are a hot button with the DW. I inherited a set of light from a great aunt. Since they are a "heirloom" i can guilt them on to the pup. They are big plastic bears. Prolly much like the owls, glowing orange eyes and all :)

We put out tiki string lights to match our theme. They offer a little night light, decoration and help our site stand out in the dark.

I have dolphin string lights to go with my "Flipper" theme...and they're not tacky! They cast a nice low level blue light under the awning at night and add a little ambience.

Last year at a rummage I found a lot of different holiday lights. I picked up several strands of M&M's, pumpkins, and some LED pine cones. All total spent less than $5. (I think)

Since they are "X-mas" type lights...the mini bulb type....they dont give off a huge amount of light but do add a bit of a festive spirit to the camper and put out enough light to see if sitting under the canopy and to enter/exit the camper in safety without a the bright porch light.

DH won't buy them, I wanted them.

kids got them for me for Xmas, DH wouldn't let me put them up even though I brought them each trip!

Finally I put them up in the shower house over the porta potty, he was kind of happy the night he found them on in there.

Other than that he still doesn't want me to use them!
