Driving home Sunday, the Interstate was closed due to an accident. We, along with all the other cars/trucks, took the first exit we could to go onto a small road that would hit the interstate a few miles down the road. It was a small, 2 lane road.

This small rural road ended up a nightmare as there was a three car crash on it. One vehicle smacked a pole and knocked it over - into the road blocking it! It also had live power lines in the street. Now THIS small road was backed up and we couldn't move. Only small cars could turn around to search for yet another path to the highway, as the sides of the road had ditches for drainage. Sherrif said it will be about an hour or so to have it resolved.

Can you guess what we did since we had a 10 foot PUP?

Knowing it was over an hour to sit on that road in 94 degree heat with 1/8 gas tank and a 5 year old who had to "poopy" I did the following on that small road:

    Got out

    Unhitched the PUP

    Rotated it 180 degrees

    Backed the TV to it

Hitched back up and drove away!

Take THAT all you 50 foot RV's sitting there!!

I had something similar a few years back. I had taken a wrong turn, and I was down a rural paved road, which narrowed from two full lanes to about one and a half. I figured out I had to turn around but I couldn't figure out how, there were no driveways to use. Finally I saw a set of tracks paralleling the road. I thought they must be jeep tracks.

It wasn't till I got on them that I realized they were ATV tracks. Fortunately my TV at the time was my Mazda MPV which was small, and my PUP was a small 8 foot box. The fun part was the point where the ATV tracks rose to meet the road, the grade was very very steep. I buried the pedal and hoped I had enough momentum, and luckily I did.

I would have just parked, gone back into the TT, let my kid "poopy" in the toilet and hung out while the road was closed down. Maybe even open the fridge and make a sammich! [:D]

Cook some eggs and bacon and whatnot...maybe had a nap. lol [:)C]

On a more serious note, I think that's most people's worst nightmare...getting their rig stuck in the middle of nowhere with low fuel and nio idea where they are.

Good reason to always have enough gas! 1/8th of a tank would scare the hell out of me if I had to take a detour.

That's what I had my money on. Selling hot dogs and charging to use the Thetford!! [;)]

I always fill my fuel tank before I tie the trailer on to leave and again before I head home. 1/8th tank = [B)]
