Hi there Popper Uppers. Just getting my first, very old, pop up ready for use and I came upon a great but scary video about tires. So, I will replace these old things but it's been difficult figuring out what size to get. The numbers don't jive with what I'm finding online. It reads 77M 570-8 Load C. This is on a 98 Viking SP165. Any suggestions? AND THANKS
Welcome to the Portal from Southern Ontario. Glad you decided to join up. As for tires, your 5.70-8 goes on a 8 inch rim. It's about 18 inches tall and has a tread width of about 6 inches. If you wanted to change up to a little taller tire, you might have room for a 145R12. Thats a radial tire about 22 inches tall and about 6.25 inches wide. That would slow the tire from spinning so fast at highway speeds. You probably have 4 stud wheels, so keep that in mind. Whatever you choose, stay with that load range C or even D.
I'm trying to learn about tires right now. I'd guess the 77M is a model number and the size of tire is 570-8 with a load range of C.
