I posted this on another forum but I thought I'd give you guys a crack at it.

I want to get a pop up and have narrowed it down to 2 choices.
The Jayco Baja 12E or the 1206.

1206 unloaded wt 2450 lbs, GVW 3450 lbs - tongue wt 350 lbs
    12E unloaded wt 3025 lbs, GVW 4850 lbs - tongue wt 450-500+

I have 2 vehicles I'd like to tow with, a 07' Honda Pilot and a Toyota Tacoma. Both have towing packages.
The "manual" says the Honda can haul 3500 lbs. The Toyota about 6500.
I would always be going with my wife and 2 kids... maybe a friend or 2.

My thinking was the 12E would be sketchy with the Honda and probably not advised. Does anyone haul a 12E with a Pilot? Would a weight distribution hitch be enough to get away with using the Pilot?

I guess I'm wondering if the "toy" deck is worth not being able to use both vehicles. I do have a Suzuki King Quad I'd like to take up sometimes. Again I'm wondering if having the deck is worth not being able to use my Pilot.

I know I should just buy both....
Thanks in advance for any help you can be in helping me make my decision.

    Stan

is the pilot a 4x4? they can tow a bit more. I tow with my Pilot (FWD) pilot and going up dirt roads with that much weight can make the wheels break traction... just a thought.

The toy deck would be ideal if the pilot could handle the wt. Can the pilot accept WDH hitches?
If not than the Tacamo with out the deck. Deck "yes" if the taco can't carry the ATV.

The present Starcraft "Star Shuttle" has the 4' "toting" area. The base weight of the 2104S is about 1900 lbs with a GVWR of 3260 lbs - have nowhere been close to max load, maybe 2700 lbs.

Was really spoiled with the previous smaller unit as it was a breeze to tow. This unit, even though not fully loaded, has caused some rear end squatting with the GMC pick'm up and that's going to have to be addressed (and you KNOW this one is behind you!) - the tow rating for the GMC is 6500 lbs.

Yes the Pilot is a 4X4... I live in Utah. Four wheel drive is a must.
And yes it can also accommodate a WDH.

I have the long bed Taco but I don't like putting the 4 wheeler up there.
I have a trailer I take that with.... heck in my neck of the woods we just
drive our 4 wheelers around town [8D]

Thanks SOOOOO much for the info. You guys are great.
