This is not going to be a group rally, but a few of us are camping at Hickey Run State Park over April 16-18 for the opening day of Trout Season. Anyone is welcome to join us.

The state stocks 2 lakes and 3 streams. 1 stream is delayed harvest.

    Did somebody say 'trout?'

Have a great time! If not for the distance (long ways from Colorado) I'd be there!

We camped at Hickory Run a few years ago and loved it. I'm a bass fisherman, so I am not very familiar with trout, but camping at Hickory Run and fishing...the best of both worlds. :)

I'm thinking about Little Pine SP for the trout season opener. Heck I live in the trout stream mecca of Monroe County, PA. Hickory Run, and Promised Land are easy 40 minute runs.

Me & the wife aren't fishing people, though she did get a bunch of used gear at a yard sale. Maybe that means that she wants to start. [?:~{]

But we've camped at Hickory Run many times, and I'm trying to pick a spring weekend for this year. If she's interested, and we can get some fishing tips, we might be up for this. [8D]

    Thanks for letting us know.

    Reservation???
How do we classify our pup's overall length, and when the padcnr site says no slideout is that applicable to pups?
Ours is 18.3ft closed 24ft open with slideout. Trailer size options on padcnr: 15ft/20ft/30ft
We selected 20ft,and went in the wooded loop.
Site 168 is 15ft/20ft ok, electric, and pets.
If we went with the 30ft requirement options are few and far between.

I have to work, and won't get back to NEPA till atleast 5:45pm. I'll probalby be on the road by 6:15 and be at hickory run by 7pm.
I used to setting up tents in the dark, and the monster pup is way easier. It holds the flashlight [:D]
Licensed up yesterday, and need to pick up some meal worms today.

Worst weekend ever camping. Friday was 7 hours of nonstop rain. Saturday 40 degrees with low 30's sleet and snow flurries. Burned up a tank of propane by 7:30am Sunday. Couldn't wait to take all that wet gear home. I'll need reflectix, gizmos, and another tank of propane to try doing that again this early in April.

Some trailers bee-lined it out by 7am Sunday, we were packed up after breakfast, and were on the road by noon.

Left Friday morning around 9am, arriving at 11:30am. setup from 11:30 to 12:30 and then helping the fish commission stock 3,000 trout. As mentioned above, it rained hard Friday night, was cooler Saturday (visited the boulder field), a few snow flurries Sunday morning and then warmed up to be a nice day. 58 degrees. I ran the electric heater all weekend and had the furnace on as a backup if it got to cold at night.
My friend Joe (photo) must of had a good time, he's already planning the next trip.
We didn't catch anything until Saturday evening and Sunday morning. Slammed them on a mixture of different flies. Saw deer, turkey, geese, squirrels, porcupine and a few other animals... no bear. [:!] PaThacker, sorry we didn't get a chance to meet... next time.

Nice pictures. We were holed up in the pup with 20 month old doing a new pup shakedown. No reflextix nor auxiliary heat. All systems worked as they should, and we will be back at it with a few mods by second week of May.
