I am thinking about buying my husband and our family a suprise pop up camper. The challenge is that I am not sure if I am getting a good deal or not.
    2018 Forest River Flagstaff 228BHSE

Is what I am looking to purchase and I don't know how to negotiate and I want to make sure they are not taking advantage.... how can I negotiate with them? Any common information that might help me?

A quick check on the internet shows that the msrp is just shy of $15k, but the current asking price hovers around $11k. What options are you getting? How much is the dealer asking?

The MSRP $16459 and they have it for sale at 11,995 and are not budging off the price.

Sounds like they're giving you a reasonable deal. Is that out the door, or will they add in a bunch of fees on top of that?

As I said, it sounds like a reasonable deal. If you're comfortable with the price, go for it. Personally, I would try to get them to go $11995 out the door. Since it's end of season, you should at least be able to get them to waive all of the excess fees beyond tax, title, and license (doc fees, prep fees, destination charges, etc.)

Look again. I don't think it comes with AC. The description says it has an AC wiring kit which means it is ready to have an AC unit installed. Also, the video discusses all the features but does not mention AC.

Have you discussed this with your family? Such a large purchase really shouldn't be a surprise. I know if my wife did something like that I would be extremely disappointed. The same would go if I did it as well, as we have discussed this sort of thing in the past.

Make sure your family is on board and include them in the process. They will appreciate it and be much more excited about getting it and using it.

Well it is a nice camper. I would ask the dealer for a grey portable tote, you will need one if you plan on using the shower. As stated above what will you be towing the camper with, and if your TV does not have break controller would ask the dealer to throw that in also. Good luck on your future purchase.

My mom kind of did that the whole surprise popup camper. Dad was aware of her decision and even though he was not interested he essentially told Mom as long as she used her money and not the family money he was OK with it. However mom fell for the salesman's" you can tow this no problem" talk when in fact it was severely pushing the limits of our tow vehicle. So like others said above do your research about tow limits, and GVWR so you know in fact you and your family will be safe.

I would have them send you a picture of the AC unit - to me you can't tel as there are no roof top pictures....I think I saw a plug on the side that would be for the AC, but hard to tell.....

First of all, can your tow vehicle tow this before deciding on the popup. find out the GWVR (not dry weight) of the popup and what is the max the TV can tow. for example my Niagara is 3500 GWRV and My explorer can tow up to 5000 lbs.
