I saw a new wedge style pop up with a full overcab sleeper, just a shell going for 6k. Thats an option... would prefer at least a queen though.

You can make a bed extension though. FWCs have (had? I haven't camper shopped in a while) a system to turn the full sized bed into a king/queen size. I bet you can find all sorts of bed-extending inspiration out there.

Yep. Actually the 4 wheel campers Project M has a king. My only fuss with it is the cost. Wow they are proud of those!

Yep, they're proud of them. That's a good way to put it.

I think the crank top is so much easier to deploy and put away anyhow. I actually selected one particular manufacturer for mine in part because it requires absolutely zero tucking when you put the top down. Maybe it's less important if you're tall, but it's kind of awesome to not have to poke canvas.

I’d wondered about that. Have imagined myself going spot to spot, round the camper with a step ladder to get it properly tucked in. Doesn’t sound like a big deal, but the reality of doing it in uneven ground is a real problem at times. Perhaps I’m short enough to just pull it in from the inside. (Not shopping now, mind you. Opted to stick with van & towable.)

I can't touch mine at all in the tuck area when it's on the truck. Younger people might clamber around and step on tires and bumpers and in doorways but I think a stepladder or at least a broom is needed. Many of the crank-up types have little 3" skirts around the base of the canvas to shed water that need to be poked up. On mine, if you close the door and windows and turn on the fan, the canvas gets sucked in as you lower the roof and no tucking is needed. (And no matter how short you are: you don't want to be on the cabover bed when the top goes down. The rest of the camper is quite usable with the top down, though I don't think one would want to cook.)

I like the camper itself, but as I have said here and elsewhere and am quite up front about, I need weight capacity on any overcab sleeper, and theirs only supports 300 lbs. I am nowhere near as far over it as I once was, but I am still over that number. I am still considering placing my order anyway as by the time it gets built and shiped to me I should be under that number.

I don't know if you can really cool something like that...not in Texas anyway. Hmmm. The weight is good.

I would radically prefer a straight up pop up that can handle a roof top AC. But for those that can use a Wedge style pop up it is certainly affordable...

One item to note. Truck was almost ready for delivery, when he had a catastropic caliper failure. Sitting for that long not driven is not good for hydraulic seals... I am having calipers all the way around done on it along with new lines. No sense in messing around... By the time I am done I will have a truck I can drive for several hundred thousand miles more, have the lift, wheels, tire, winch, electrical upgrades and custom interior upgrades I wanted... I just wish my wife was here to enjoy them with me.

At the rate I am going at getting this truck back from the shop. I'll be joining her in the ground before I can go camping...
