And that thought scares me more than the virus, or the vaccine itself.

I'll flash something, but it won't be any kind of papers.

I'd like to thank everyone who took the minuscule risk and got, or are getting the vaccine. I think our communities are worth it. [:D]

The cards are available on the internet for $25.00. You get one vaccination card and another negative test card after taking the vax card. On tik Tok there was a drug store clerk claiming she swiped a stack of vax cards and was giving to family members. The Vax passports will be worthless. Sorry folks.

The cool kids get stickers on theirs from the entity that administered the dose.

The rate of deaths from coronavirus is number three in the states and been so for a while now. Far ahead of influenza-pneumonia. Number one and two cases of deaths here is not commutable. The coronavirus is.

    -----------------------------------------
    from KHN

All other causes of death pale in comparison to the coronavirus death toll. So far, the coronavirus has killed roughly three times as many people as accidents, lung ailments, stroke or Alzheimer’s disease did in 2019. And the coronavirus has outpaced the number of deaths from diabetes, kidney disease, influenza, pneumonia and suicide by even larger multiples.

I get my first vaccine today...I will let you know if I get shocked into unconsciousness the first time
I step out of my house and breach my property boundary line!
Seriously though...If it actually helps us I am all for it.
I will do my part for the greater good.
Lets revisit this after 85% of the population is vaccinated.
I don't have a lot of confidence in us ever returning to normal.
The goal post has been moved way too many times already.

Talk about a bad day at work. I wouldn't want to be the guy who messed up the chemicals for 15 million doses, OOPS.

But number 1 and 2 are grouped together groups to make them larger "CANCER AND HART" . There are over 100 diffrent cancers? Covid is not group with all viruses, it stands by itself not like cancer and hart?

Its going to be difficult to ever get an accurate accounting of Covid and covid-related deaths. On one side, you have some places which count a covid death when someone positive for covid dies in a car accident, on the other, you have at least as many cases where people are classified as almost anything but COVID.

Then you have the secondary deaths - the stress induced heart issues, the victims of domestic abuse, the suicides, the missed cancer screenings.... not covid, but might not have happened otherwise

Surplus deaths is a generally good approach, but it assumes all other things remain unchanged - but with so much traffic down, with so many bars closed, deaths from vehicular accidents dropped like a stone. Almost no colds or flus, or really any infectious disease in places where lockdowns happened, and masks/social distancing was done. Any number of other things also changed.

For those who were lucky enough to avoid seeing loved ones impacted directly with this - I envy you. This bug showed up and we are lucky on so many levels that it wasn't so very much worse. But it is still really really horrible, and we aren't done yet.

Vaccines are the best (only) hope we have now, and it's a race between getting a critical mass inoculated and a variant popping up that is completely immune to the vaccines.

If you get the chance to get the shot, take it. I understand waiting a bit to let others get theirs first. I understand those few people who cannot be vaccinated. But we need this eradicated before it flares up again. And before it becomes a Spanish flu or Black Death.

FIL got his first jab this morning! July 22 for 2nd!

JAMA crunches the numbers and tries to explain:
    https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/fullarticle/2778234

Also, as a volunteer working under the umbrella of local law enforcement, the "unintentional deaths" includes an uptick in spurious reckless behavior that occurred in 2020. People running red lights, speeding, and just generally throwing caution to the wind and doing stupid she-eye-tea.

I am doing it for the reasons I already posted...I lost my mother the day after Thanksgiving.
She was in a memory care facility... Which with restrictions should have been the safest place she could have been.
No visitors everybody masked up...deep cleaning etc etc.
Yet she still contracted it and was gone in 2 weeks from her first symptoms and positive test.
Yes Covid is real...But I also believe we really don't know much about it at the end of the day
    except it can be fatal.
I don't think we really know how long it survives on a surface or what cleaning products kill it etc etc.
Every guideline by the so called experts was followed in my moms case and she got it.
We know some things but not near enough and based on my own experiences the whole thing is
a crap shoot to rather you get it or not.
The proof in the pudding will be in a year when the majority of people are vaccinated.
And we see if this is behind us.
I just seen there are people vaccinated testing positive.
So I will do my part but forgive me if I am skeptical.
