While visiting my DD in orlando, decided to drive up to Weikewa Springs State park, or is it Weikeva? Oh the confusion. Here, something to do with if your from Orange, or Seminole county. So I been. Told
I went to summer camp there, every year, growing up. Lots of good memories. The park is named after the springs, Wekiewa. The river that flows from it is the Wekiva River. I believe it comes from Native Americans.
I live about a mile from the park it is a very good campground and swimming hole Sent from my SM-G925T using Tapatalk
yes nice swimming hole , but packed today, they shut the park down for overcrowded. Wish I knew you where so close would have stopped by to say hello
Just got back from 4 days there. According to the literature, Wekiwa means bubbling water and Wekiva means flowing water- hence the springs are Wekiwa and the river is Wekiva. Nice campground, but (unfortunately) found the spring overcrowded and not very inviting.
This is my DDs favorite campground. The weekends are a bit crowded I work in Orlando but live closer to the Ocean. One week years ago I did not take vacation just kept the family there. I should clean ot the camper and schedule a trip before school starts.
