Ok all you Palomino owners...what do you do with all the awning poles??? I have a bunch of them under my dinette that can't stay there when we're actually camping. I want a mod or idea so I don't have to leave them home, but fair week, we can't use the awning due to space limitations. Now you can really start laughing, cause I'm sure a few of you have been here...where in the world do all those poles go? <img src=../Images/icons/icon_smile_lol.gif border=0 align=middle alt="Laugh Out Loud"> <img src=../Images/icons/icon_smile_confused.gif border=0 align=middle alt="Confused"> Cris & Rich <img src=../Images/icons/icon_smile_camping.gif border=0 align=middle alt="Camping"> Coreen <img src=../Images/icons/icon_smile_happycamper.gif border=0 align=middle alt="Happy Camper"> & Caitlin <img src=../Images/icons/icon_smile_happycamper.gif border=0 align=middle alt="Happy Camper"> 2004 Ford F150 <img src=../Images/icons/icon_smile_suv.gif border=0 align=middle alt="Tow Vehicle"> & 1991 Palomino Stallion <img src=../Images/icons/icon_smile_pu.gif border=0 align=middle alt="PopUp">
Will they fit along the edge of the bunks? Say between the mattress and sides by your feet? Got two bunks so you can split them up. Or some folks mounted PVC tubes aon the bumper or toungue which can hold all sorts of poles. Bryan, Pam, Cameron, and dogs Gracie and Piper. 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan 1992 Viking
I hadn't thought about along the mattress. Not sure how well that'd work, there were quite a few poles, but will look this weekend. Thanks for the idea. I had thought about the plastic tube idea too...which is what I'm leaning towards unless someone has a better idea! <img src=../Images/icons/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle alt="Smile"> Cris & Rich <img src=../Images/icons/icon_smile_camping.gif border=0 align=middle alt="Camping"> Coreen <img src=../Images/icons/icon_smile_happycamper.gif border=0 align=middle alt="Happy Camper"> & Caitlin <img src=../Images/icons/icon_smile_happycamper.gif border=0 align=middle alt="Happy Camper"> 2004 Ford F150 <img src=../Images/icons/icon_smile_suv.gif border=0 align=middle alt="Tow Vehicle"> & 1991 Palomino Stallion <img src=../Images/icons/icon_smile_pu.gif border=0 align=middle alt="PopUp">
Our poles came in a vinyl canvas bag that I used to store in the PU. I tried hiding them under the mattresses but the poles in the bag were too bulky. If they were loose and under the mattresses, they weren't so bulky but they were a pain to grab and I didn't always put up the awning so they would have to be moved anyway. I ended up doing the PVC storage tube mod and it is the handiest solution for me. I initially installed a 4 inch tube but I am going to add a 6 inch tube as well. Awning carpet won't fit in the 4 inch tube. Scott '60, DW '72, DD '00, DS '02, DD '04, DS '07 '07 Jayco 1207, '04 Pontiac Montana AWD Camping '09: 3 nights reserved (so far)
How much room is there in your Awning bag? I roll the rafter poles up in the awning along with the vertical poles which are attached to the awning. I also leave the tiedown lines attached and rolled up in the awning. Everything I need to set up the awning except the stakes are stored in the bag attached to the roof. Unfortunately there isn't room in the awning bag. We have to squeeze the awning in. It's quite large. Looking like we're going to have to tube the PUP. lol Cris & Rich <img src=../Images/icons/icon_smile_camping.gif border=0 align=middle alt="Camping"> Coreen <img src=../Images/icons/icon_smile_happycamper.gif border=0 align=middle alt="Happy Camper"> & Caitlin <img src=../Images/icons/icon_smile_happycamper.gif border=0 align=middle alt="Happy Camper"> 2004 Ford F150 <img src=../Images/icons/icon_smile_suv.gif border=0 align=middle alt="Tow Vehicle"> & 1991 Palomino Stallion <img src=../Images/icons/icon_smile_pu.gif border=0 align=middle alt="PopUp">
