Ha! Reminded me of that commercial. "Hey, That looks like our Pup" As it passes the car that was pulling it.

Holy cow! Were the (ahem) TV's front tires even touching the road? I can picture it hopping down the road like a lowrider...

Whoa! They are braver than I am, that's for sure. Looks like a pretty big PUP for that car, but I guess it's hard to know what mods they've made.

    The first picture is hilarious!

    What's wrong with this picture?

It's incriminating, it shows the driver of a vehicle taking pictures while driving. [;)]

That 1991-1996 Chevrolet Caprice has a full perimeter frame and has a towing limit of 3500 lbs, so it should be fine towing that camper. It just needs a WDH to compensate for the extra weight. on the rear axle and coil springs.

I've towed a trailer like that with my car before as well. My car is a uni-body frame and has a 2000 lb tow limit with a bumper hitch so a WDH is not an option for me.

That being said... My car has the advantage of being equipped with automatic load leveling air ride suspension. so I'm not worried about towing such a large camper.

It has 3 sensors (2 front, 1 rear) and adjusts the ride height to a preset level. The sensors tell the computer to open the air valves so the compressor can fill the air springs to raise the car or let the air out to lower the car, depending on how much weight is in the car.

Another advantage to the air ride is that if I need to do something under the car, (hanging a tailpipe with a wire hanger), and I don't want to jack the car up for safety reasons, (parked on an incline with no parking brakes).

I can "trick" the air suspension by turning on the ignition, have people stand on the bumpers, and listen for the compressor to stop pumping air into the springs, and turning switch off in the trunk before everyone gets off the car.

Doing this also comes in handy in instances where a higher ground clearance is desired, (going on an off road path), and I'm worried about damaging the underside of the car.

If I remember correctly it had a 5000lb rating when equipped with the 5.7L V8 and the towing package. Thoes early 90's full size GMs were tanks.

That's the Station wagon you're reffering to. This one is only a sedan.

Also on closer look, the car in the pic is actually a Buick Roadmaster, not a Chevy Caprice. I stand corrected.

Will your Grand Marquis be able to stop that amount of weight?

My fox body 90 Lincoln Mark VII could probably pull about the same as the larger panther body grand marquis, if I installed a larger hitch, but the difference in frame construction and brakes makes me not want to go over the 2,000 lb towing limits.

My little trailer is pushing 1,000 lbs fully loaded and I can definitely feel the extra weight when slowing down and stopping.

Do you have airbags on all 4, or just on the rear? My Mark VII has bags on all 4, and not only does it help with towing as you say, but it's one heck of a smooth ride.

What really gets me about this is the mirrors that couldn't see past the pup awning. I don't know why, but it irritates me to no end to see someone towing (usually a TT) with nothing more than 4" non convex mirrors. There is no possible way they can see anything other than what they're pulling, and although around here we only have 1 multi lane hiway it still drives me crazy.
