When you have a 'I Hate My Job' day, try this:

On your way home from work, stop at your pharmacy and go to the thermometer
section and purchase a rectal thermometer made by Johnson & Johnson.

Be very sure you get this brand. When you get home, lock your doors, draw the
curtains and disconnect the phone so you will not be disturbed.

Change into very comfortable clothing and sit in your favorite chair. Open
the package and remove the thermometer. Now, carefully place it on a table or a
surface so that it will not become chipped or broken.

Now the fun part begins Take out the literature from the box and read it
carefully. You will notice that in small print there is a statement:

'Every Rectal Thermometer made by Johnson & Johnson is personally tested and
    then sanitized '.

Now, close your eyes and repeat out loud five times,'I am so glad I do not
work in the thermometer quality control department at Johnson & Johnson.'

HAVE A NICE DAY AND REMEMBER, THERE IS ALWAYS SOMEONE ELSE WITH A JOB THAT IS
MORE OF A PAIN IN THE BEHIND THAN YOURS!

Great joke. I had a bad day a work and this really helped put things in perspective.

I guess that Johnson & Johnson gig isn't a desk job. No sitting in that department.

I had a bad day 5 years ago, gave them 3 months notice, went on 6 weeks sick leave, then 6 weeks annual leave and then back to work for 1 day and retired. Haven't regretted it one bit. Working for the government is like being a rectal thermometer tester - it's a pain in the butt.

We were bummed out to find out we were not getting raises in pay this year and now find out the Christmas bonus was going to be trashed as well.Good thing I told the Wife to expect that this was going to come to an end so she did not spend it already.Whats next 3 sick days from 5.Sometimes I just have to remember there are those who don't even have a job so I just keep thanking God for what I have.My wife has a sign on the wall that says"happiness isn't having what you want but wanting what you have" seams more true now.

FreePopup, the word Bonus means "extra" and can never be counted on!

Good thing your DW didn't count her chickens before they hatched!

I love the sign on your DW's wall and am glad I want what I have!

Yes I agree with you with this exception I have been in this company for 12 years and we always saw this money every year. I kind of had a feeling this might be the last year so I warned my wife to "not plan on it" and to stay within our budget so just in case we were ready ether way.

Now you have something extra to spend on camping! Or, save it in case things go south---DH was forced to take early retirement about 3 years ago---after 30 years with the company! There hadn't been bonuses for several years. It would have been nice if he could have kept working until old enough for social security. Now he has more time for his volunteer jobs with the local food pantry, Boy Scouts and Habitat for Humanity. I wish they paid better!!
