Ours is not so much white anymore, sorta more yellow. I would love to freshen up the exterior by painting it. Has anyone repainted a pup exterior and if so, what paint did you use?

Have you search the forums. I remember seeing a lot to talk about painting in some other threads but not sure of the outcome of said projects. I can't imagine it would be too hard. Your most important concern is prep. With the textured metal it's not conducive to sanding. So a good cleaning followed with some chemical etching is how I would start. Talk with some local paint shops and ask what they would recomend. I planned to paint mine this summer but we've decided to sell ours. Keep us posted as to your progress.

I'll be painting mine the same way I would a car, I just have some prep details to work out first. For the love of all that is holy, do NOT use a paint brush. You'll hate yourself in the morning. I would rather rattle can it than use a brush or roller.

I took all my decals off, rough sanded and used rustolium X2 gloss white for ours. Put new decals on and IMO turned out good.

So yours was rattle can? Did you have any coverage issues? Dry spots? Runs?

This is what I used to get the decals off.

As for runs, I did not have any problems with that. With dry spots or misses, I put 3 coats on and had no problems.

Where can you get decals? Can you order them somewhere?
do you have to go specifically back to the manufacturer?
I'm looking at needing a "Coachmen" decal for my pup....

How many cans of spray paint did it take to paint the camper and how many coats? I am thinking about using a roller or a foam pad to paint my camper. Spray cans are fun but I am worried about the cost.

Your pup looks good Jab. I agree about using rattle can rather than a brush.

You may be able to buy larger quantities on the internet at a better price than going to Wally world.

Ours' had a lot of UV damage (small cracks)...I only did the top and it looks much better! I used a roller and this Tru-Valu floor/porch paint.

When we bought our 96 Coleman sun valley two years ago the body had black marks running vertically on it. I tried to use remover but all I did was take off the paint. I took it to a friend who owns a body shop and had it painted refrigerator white. He had some blue and green decals like racing stripes he added. Looks great, better than new and I protected it with a good coat of wax. From the show me state.

    I wouldn't roller the sides...but the "satin" turned-out well! [8D]

I used 4 cans that totaled about $16, as for coats honestly I can not remember probably around 6 or so.

Does that come in a fan tip pattern, or is it the standard round spray pattern?

Is your roof also colored or can you get away with painting the body alone? Don't spray paint your roof. Chances are it will not last long.

I painted our roof because of leaks, so I have to throw in my 2C incase anyone comes across this considering any aspects that my project included.
Painting the roof: I used an elastomeric roof paint in white. Please, please make sure not to do this in the sun in a hot day with a roller. That paint is thick. It gums up with heat and shows roller marks. In the shade on a cool day should be alright and turn out beautiful and waterproof.
I hope you have it easier and don't need to paint your roof at all.

Fan tip, that's what I liked about the rustolium paint. I agree with you recycleness, I used Kool Seal to coat my roof, and painted the front and back panels.
