WI - Rocky Arbor and Mirror Lake State Parks

Jul 20, 2008
We stayed at Rocky Arbor at Wisconsin Dells this week. We liked the park - it was very pretty, sites were wooded, and the park had showers. Each site has a campfire ring with a cooking grid and a large shephards hook for hanging something. We were not really sure what we were supposed to hang from it, but used it for a lantern. I noticed others used it to hang a garbage bag and others for wet towels. The park location is very handy if you want to go to water parks and other tourist attractions at the Dells as it's only about a mile to the downtown. Drawbacks are you can hear highway noise from the interstate and there's not much for younger children to do in the park.

We drove through Mirror Lake State Park, as that was only a few miles away. That park is significantly larger, has a lake with a beach area, rentals for boats and bikes, a very nice playground, and might be more fun for younger children. The sites there were not as private, so it would depend on what you like. There is also a disability cabin and a boardwalk along the lake, and both parks have sites special for the disabled and are available only for those with disabilities.
