Will a PopUp fit into a garage?

This is my first post. I actually found this site because I was looking on Google to see if Pop Up campers fit into garages.

We're about to move from our house to an apartment, since the flood insurance for our home just increased from $2500 to $4200. I have a very wide skiff (boat) that fits into our two car garage, but won't fit into the one car garage at the apartment.

I've always wanted a Pop Up camper, and thought perhaps this would be a good time to check into getting one. There's one main question that I have right now:

Do any Pop Up campers fit through a one-car garage door? The garage seems very deep, so I'm not too worried about the length.

If they do, I may just switch from boating to Pop Up'ing since I love to camp.

Has anyone found a way to carry one or two Kyaks with a Pop Up as well?

    Anyway, thanks for any responses.

You need to measure the width of both the garage door and the width of the pup which includes anything sticking out such as a awning bad. water hookups, access compartments ect. different manufactures make different width pups so just be sure to measure very very carefully. My last home had a once car garage and i literally had one inch to spare when putting our old Starcraft away. It was kind of nerve wracking the first few times but I got good at it. Measure measure and measure again! Good luck!

Howdy, Randy. Welcome to the Portal!

A camper should fit through a single wide garage door, but it will be tight. I believe a trailer is typically 80" wide (6.7') and the narrowest single door will be 7' (84"). So, you'll have just 2" on each side. You may or not be able to pop it up inside the garage. This will depend on the ceiling height, and also whether a door opener will be in the way or not.

You can also keep a camper outside, so don't let that turn you off about buying a camper. Many folks here (myself included) don't have a garage to keep the camper inside. In fact, mine's in the Parklot at an apartment too. All is OK with the landlord at my place.

Besides, I've always heard of the "2 best days in a Boat Owners life." The day they bought it, and the day they Sold it. Now, I've never heard that saying applied to a camper owner, so maybe you can take that as a Positive sign.

Edit In: By the way, there are ways to take smaller boats along to camp as well. Others will be better able to provide more details on that one. I can toss my small boat in the truck and also tow the camper, but I have a really small boat and a big truck. Good Luck with it!

Our pup fits in our garage, but just barely. When DH is backing in, I have to hold the garage door up as high as it will go or the A/C unit will scrape. We have a high wall, so it's probably a little taller than most.

    Jeff,

Can't wait to see the pics! And, you're Welcome again. I'm glad it's gonna work out A-OK for ya. If you follow the topics I have on this subject, you'll find that I ran into a problem with my new room, but thanks to the folks here at the Portal I have it Solved! And I too need to get some Updated Pics posted there in my Gallery. (the weather hasn't been cooperating as of late, but I'm sure it'll work now.)
Sorry for the Side Track folks, but I gave Jeff a screen room a month or two ago, and have since been very eager to see some pics from him. So... that's what that was all about.

Hey, thanks for all of the replies. It sounds like I should be able to find something that will fit.

I just put our pup in the garage on the weekend. We have a single car garage (more like a single car carport that was finished into a garage. I literally had no more than one inch to spare on either side but it I got it in. I push it in by hand. I am not sure I would have tried to back it in with the van because it is so tight. If I can get ours in, I am sure you can manage. I don't have enough height to be able to open her up in the garage. Oh well.
