Easily one of the most beautiful and accessible lakes in Arizona has to be Woods Canyon Lake on the Mogollon rim. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Mogollon+Rim/@34.3354422,-110.9498898,15z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x872c690b96e7a2a3:0x9932419faab118d1 [IMG]
This lake has two campgrounds Aspen and Spillway. Spillway is right on the lake so reservations are a must. And if you want to reserve for a holiday weekend well, good luck.

There is a great little store right on the lake that has everything you need. They even rent trolling motor boats! Bald Eagles nest here and often put on a show for you. Just toss a fish out on the lake surface with one nearby and enjoy the show. Lots of Osprey Hawks too and they are fun to watch as they dive for a fish. Poor hawks though, if they do get a fish and the eagle sees them why, the eagle chases them down and steals it LOL

There is a nice trail all the way around the lake and it's rather easy. Fishing is typical trout and usually good. During the summer the area is an excellent escape from the desert floor but be aware, holiday weekends are very busy.

There are several lakes in the area so it's easy to jump from one to another during the day. Woods Canyon Lake, highly recommended.

Very nice. That's not too far from where we had the boondocking rallies.

Osprey Hawk...taken at Woods Canyon. They are fun to watch as they dive bomb the water for fish.

Oh, wow! Now I want to go. We go to Christopher Creek all the time, but have never ventured to Woods Canyon. Guess it's time for a camping trip. :)

Nah, I'm going up the weekend of the 20th. Those photos were from about this time last year. I've had a lot of projects going on and with those and work, haven't been up on the rim nearly as much as I'd like.

I'm surprised you don't have a Turbo 400 hooked up to that big Rat motor...

    Dave,

Hahahaha. I do. Forgot to change the trans when I went from my '74 C10 to my '84 C30. I changed it just for you.

Went this past weekend to the Spillway campground. A roving band of elk are currently raiding campsites, so put all your trash and food up inside your vehicle or camper before you leave your site. They're even coming in at night.
