Anyone heading to Yellowstone check this app. Real time road and campground info. There’s also one for Grand Teton

Yeah it’s pretty cool. Tells what time the campgrounds filled the previous two days. Helpful if your planning on finding a spot when you get there.

What is it called exactly? I found several. Post a link to the app in the App-Store if you can.

If you search for NPS Yellowstone it will be the first hit in the google play store.

The NPS website suggests that you download offiline content before arriving at the park, since cell service is spotty there.

The NPS website claims it as their own.

Thanks. Downloading it now and will be looking for other NP apps.

Nice that within the app you can download maps. Lord knows cell service is nonexistent once to leave for the grand tour.

The developer is listed as "National Park Service".

I would never plan a trip to YS without making reservations first. I am looking forward to planning a 2 week stay in 2021.

We used a gypsy travel guide app last time we were there. It does cost 10 bucks, but we thought it was well worth it. You can find it in the usual app stores.

Looks like a good app, but....cell service in most of the park is spotty to non-existent. But there is good serve around Old Faithful since there is a small cell tower there. The National Park Service limits to where cell towers can be placed.

Sounds like you can download the content for offline viewing as well.

The app i posted about does download all the content required, and then only uses gps data to play pertinent info as you are driving around the park. It really is like having a guided tour.

I just ran across Gypsy yesterday and it seems like everyone thinks its great (you and other reviewers I've found). So it sounds like we'll try it out for our trip as well. Thanks for the recommendation.

Its cool, if you have the phone or a tablet running the app, it announces what you are aproaching and gives you info about it.

The semi real time campground full (and at what time!) info is neat.
