Never actually seen an animal attack a touron but i did seen a close call. Years ago my dad and i were waiting for my mom to use the restroom at the Old Faithful Lodge. We were in the parking lot out front. It's common for bison to lay in the shade of the trees in the islands in that lot and that day was no exception. There was a big bull resting peacefully laying down minding his own business. Well a young couple came along and were looking at it and taking pictures. It was obvious they were not from around here. The father decided it would be a good idea to get a pic of his three year old sitting on top of the 2000 lb beast. As he maneuvered around the back of the animal the wife prepared to get the shot of a lifetime. My dad being born and raised in NYC was always taught to mind his own business and so we watched , not quite believing what we were seeing. Before this knucklehead could plop the kid on the bison several folks started shouting at them and after a few rude words from these idiots they moved on. Although in hindsight we probably should have intervened sooner I've been told to go f**k myself more than once trying to discourage folks form doing stupid things around here.

Darwin would say that it was a good opportunity to remove those genes from the human breeding pool...
    ...just sayin'...

I was in mammoth in Yellowstone one fall during the elk rut. Walked into a bathroom and came back out a few minutes later to a cow elk blocking my escape route. Went back inside and waited her out.

probably 15 minutes later a beautiful cherry red restored late 60’s ford pickup drove slowly by a big 6x6 bull taking some nice close up pictures. Bull must not have liked his picture taken or the fact that his herd of cows was on the other side of the truck and decided to attack the truck. He got the front quarter panel and the door before the driver hit the gas. Bull still got the side of the truck bed as the driver pulled off yelling. Bull rocked that truck moving it side to side. It was an impressive display of the power they have. Nobody hurt other than the guys pride and joy classic pickup truck.

Wild animals doing unpredictable things is predictable.

A old red pickup? Well, at least he can put a Christmas tree in the back, drive around, and charge folks $10 a picture to take selfies with it in the off season!

They wont let me carry that around the park. Can you see me hiking thru the SMNP with a Barret slung on my shoulder?? <GG> Does a concealed carry permit cover those???

Saw the Elk literally on the road about a mile before the old entrance sign. Its right there where the new bar is. The last light before leaving town. Two'ish miles from Oconaluftee.

Dont see how you can snap that onto the EF mount.

Canon's lens mount since about 1986 or 87 in known as the EF mount. It is now being phased out by the newer RF Mount. Mine takes the EF

I bet that scope cost about as much as the upper line Canon telephoto.<<GG>>

My buddy has one and might bring it to Country Fried Weekend again in January. It's hilarious fun to shoot.

    But, nah, not for GSMNP.
    ...Cades Cove maybe... Dang coyotes.

We have very strict hunting rules on Coyotes. The season is 365 days at year at 24 hours a day. Bag limit is about 10,000 a day. You must use a weapon with a bore diameter less than a 4". season is 366 days on leap year. They are like feral hawgs, real strict. There is a forgiveness for any bag limit violations. Damn deer fawn AKA coyotee bait.

There's a video floating around of one of your politicians shooting a Barrett at a Prius loaded with 100 pounds of plastic. Took her two shots.

SMNP would be ok with the Barrett as long as you wear a face diaper while in the visitor center.

They are called wild life, not photo props. No rule what they will do.

I love the video of the kid getting tossed by the bison. I know it's wrong, but it cracks me up every time.

    It's not wrong.
    Twisted, yes. Wrong, no.

We were heading to Cades Cove about 10 years ago and saw a sow with two cubs on the side of the road. And tourists getting out of their cars to take selfies. I stopped the Jeep and yelled at them, shamed them back into their cars.
We went on into the Cove and rode around/hiked for a few hours, stopped at the campground on the way out. I popped in at the ranger thing and met a Japanese family ---- they were shivering and wrapped in blankets. Story was that they had also stopped by the side of the road for selfies with the bears, too close to the side of the road, rolled their rental minivan down into the gully, landed in a stream.
Lucky to be alive. Darwin doesn't always claim his victims it seems.
