Rocky Bayou aka Fred Gannon SP... the rest of the beachfront ones cater to the rich retirees with more RV than campspot

If that wasn't all the way at the end of FL, I would make reservations just based on that pic!

Was there a specific campground on the OBX that you stayed at?

These were taken at Nags Head KOA. If i go again i will go to Ocean Waves. KOA has no shade and in the summer for a pup very hot. Ocean Waves has some shade and some is better that none.

We've stayed at Oregon Inlet (OBX) state park several times. Again, no shade & no hookups, but it's right there at the dunes. That, and it's $20 per night.

One of our favorites is Fort Flagler State Park, Marrowstone Island, WA. This was taken last week, had to make reservations last November to get this campsite.

Mr. Commerce, what an absolutely gorgeous campsite. I actually tried to get in there for our trip in February but unfortunately I realized I should have booked back in March!! Oh well, maybe next time.

It is fantastic...and hard to get in to, but not impossible. We spent a week there back in late April early May, on site 64. That pic is of site 72, which was strangely unoccupied most of the week aside from a large, white Crown Victoria that would frequent the site.

This is the site we were on, right on the beach as well, with more privacy than 72.

You can see the water in the second pic...and some refreshments [:D]

You need to book 11 months in advance, to the day, @ 0800....and pray.

Site 68...no pups allowed due to the overhanging limbs....too bad, I'm sure I could jam my little Taos in there.

A view from the old railroad bridge, my sweetie in the blue 'yak, and in the distance you can see RVs on the water in the Buttonwood camping area.

And one more pic, looking west down the beach and towards sites 72-64.

Just returned from Covert campground in Michigan. Great little campground with a 1/4 mile of private beach on Lake Michigan.

Sharon, it is a drive and worth every hour, which was ~8 for us. We're in Lutz so I imagine you could make it in a little less time, seeing how you are in Dover.

Yes, it sure looks worth the drive for sure. Im going to have to find a new place to camp as our favorite place EG Simmons park, is on the water but not much of a beach. Is going from $12 a night with free boat launch to $24 dollar a night plus 1.00 per person user fee and $5.oo to launch the boat.

Man, now I know we cant afford to camp. Whats this world coming to?

    Sharon
