Hello all ..i purchased my 1st pup 1973 palimino last year and the previous owner said the roof had just been replaced...(looked good no cracked tears or anything) canvas was all good 1 small tear no problems.
300 bucks not a bad deal for its condition..shortly after buying it the roof started to bubble in 1 spot right in the middle..over time got bigger and bigger..the beginning of spring it gets windy here..notice the vinyl
on the roof had started to shrink and tear and the wind blew it up..so answered my question ill just replace it..so tonight pulled the vinyl off and found my bubble for starters a peice of foam thrown over a small hole from hail
and just covered over the foam and all..the old roof under the "new roof" was aluminum(badly hail damaged)..MY question now is i am on a VERY tight budget so replacing the aluminum is out of the question can i replace it with rubber roofing and can i leave the old aluminum under it for a barrier what should i seal it with any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Check with someone who does commercial rubber roofing to see what type of sealer would work. The rubber roll roofing idea should be fine over the aluminum. The original moldings, if you have them, would also help along the edges if you get the roofing under them.
