Hello everyone! I just discovered this site and it looks like it'll be a great resource!

My name is Spencer. My family and I live in Utah. We own a 2012 Honda Odyssey. Last year 7 of us went on a trip to Rocky Mountain National Park. We put a cargo carrier with two tents and all our gear onto the back of the van. It was a great trip but a lot of work to load, unload, etc. We love camping, so we decided we want to get a tent trailer so we can explore the west in style [8D].

To be honest, I have NO idea what I'm doing. Where is the best spot to post (or find) all kinds of newbie questions?

Welcome. The first thing you need to do is to determine the tow rating of your van - if that is the vehicle you will use for towing. Once you do that, you can then start looking at campers. . . .

This site is a wonderful resource - I can't imagine you will have a question that someone can't assist with.

I think the consensus is that towing with an Odyssey will require the factory tow package. (Trans cooler and factory tow bar and wire harness) That is what I had to do for my 2006 Odyssey. I think is was about $600 at the local dealership.

Hello and welcome from Minnesota!

My advice is to do a lot of homework before you buy. Maybe even rent or borrow if you can. If you can't, research, research, research.

HERE is a good place to start. HERE is a website that I like for general information. There are also a bunch of videos on YouTube that you can learn from. And of course, you can ask as many questions here on the Portal as you can think of.

Happy hunting!

Welcome from Central MA!

No question here is a stupid question everyone here was a newbie at one point or another. If you dont know ask someone will chime in to help you out. I am still really green myself but have learned hand over fist from just reading as much as i can here, joining facebook grouos and lurking and listening to pod casts. Not all information is righy for every type of TT so read carefully. There is a section for questions to ask before buying and unless your ready and willing to do some serious renovations really read it and know what to look for before starting. If you are capable and willing you can find great deals on Pups that need some work but like any project can snowball
